Ireland’s Solar Surge: A Smart Investment Opportunity for 2026
Green Crowd has officially launched its 2026 EIIS* investment opportunities this week, opening the door for investors to take part in one of Ireland’s fastest growing and most impactful sectors: solar energy.
As Ireland accelerates toward its target of generating 70% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, solar power is playing an increasingly vital role. In 2025, national solar capacity surpassed 2GW for the first time – a major milestone that firmly positions Ireland among Europe’s fastest-growing solar markets. With a national target of 8GW by 2030 and over 155,000 homes, businesses, and communities already generating clean electricity, the momentum behind solar energy has never been stronger.
This rapid growth presents a compelling opportunity for investors to support the transition to a low-carbon economy while benefiting from attractive returns.
Introducing Eden Solar Farm Development Limited
Eden Solar Farm Development Limited (“Eden”) is seeking to raise up to €1 million in 2026, with the funding round closing on 31st May 2026.
Eden has secured an opportunity to develop a ground-mounted solar farm in Kerry – Sandford Solar Farm Limited. The site has:
- Full planning permission
- Grid connection approval
- A nearby substation
- An application is currently being made under the Small-Scale Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (SRESS), which is expected to provide a route to market for the energy generated.
The project is expected to begin generating revenue in 2027, with EIIS investors repaid over time through a combination of accumulated project cashflows and refinancing.
A binding Heads of Terms agreement has been signed between Eden and Sandford, with total development costs projected at approximately €3.35 million. Importantly, Eden will hold a majority shareholding in Sandford in trust for EIIS investors, ensuring strong investor protection. These shares will only transfer back once all investor obligations have been fully repaid.
To date, €3 million has already been raised. Of the 2026 funding round:
- €350,000 will be allocated directly to the Sandford project
- Remaining funds will be used to advance additional solar projects to “ready-to-market” stage for future sale and development
Why Invest?
- Attractive Return Profile
Investors are projected to receive €1.05 per €1 invested (before tax relief).
For example, a €100,000 investment could generate approximately €55,000 in net cash flow, including 50% EIIS tax relief.
- Asset-Backed, Ethical Investment
Eden’s projects are unleveraged, meaning there is no senior debt. Investors benefit from direct exposure to renewable infrastructure assets, with no third-party claims ahead of them – offering a more secure and transparent investment structure.
- Experienced Team and Strong Partnerships
Eden works alongside experienced solar developers and engineers, ensuring robust project delivery across all stages – from site acquisition and planning to construction and securing power purchase agreements.
- No Fees for Investors
Green Crowd does not charge investors any fees for the duration of the investment. No entry fees, no exit fees, no management fees.
Ireland’s transition to clean energy is not just an environmental imperative – it’s an economic opportunity. Investments like Eden Solar Farm Development Limited enable individuals to play a direct role in building the country’s renewable infrastructure, while benefiting from government-backed incentives and strong market fundamentals.
